In Portia and Curtis’ place, Portia blows that she will never let Spencer force his way into Trina’s heart again. Curtis warns her to tread lightly as she could push Trina into his arms. Portia needs another drink when suddenly there is a knock on the door. It’s Tagert, who’s back in town. He comes right after seeing pictures of Trina with Spencer in the newspaper, and wonders if he should be worried. Curtis feels they need to give Trina space to find out about her private life, but Taggert tells him that he is not Trina’s father.
Curtis knows he’s not Trina’s father, but he speaks from experience that Trina doesn’t like people telling her what to do. Taggart sides with Portia and won’t let their daughter mix with the Cassadines. He asks them to call Trina later. Tagert comes out, and Portia tells Curtis that Tagert can be territorial. Curtis gets that and will keep parenting advice to himself until they have one of their own. Portia looks worried.
Portia asks Cortes if he really sees himself as a father. Curtis would love nothing more than to carry on the Ashford name with a child of his own.

Diane meets Spencer at Sonny’s and he explains that she wants to hire her to get custody of Esme’s baby. For this to happen, Diane says, Esme would have to be stripped of all parental rights, and, frankly, Laura would have a better chance of going for custody. He asks if his brother can get custody. Confused, Diane quickly realizes that Nicholas is the baby’s father. Spencer asks if he has any chance. Diane says this is a complicated situation, but Spencer remembers that Michael gained custody of Avery. Diane reminds him that she didn’t last long and Michael returns the girl. If he had his way, Spencer says, this kid would never have known either of their parents.
Diane asks if it was about the baby or about revenge. Spencer admits that taking this baby away from his father is just the icing on the cake. He says his name is dangerous, and his father is toxic and harmful. He wouldn’t watch his father hurt another kid’s heart and self-esteem the way he did. Diane says this is well said, and they can make this argument. Remind him that stripping parents of parental rights is a long way off, and he’ll play defense after two stints at Bentonville. She warns him that she cannot guarantee him victory.
Diane agrees to take his case. She advises him to think long and hard about the lengths he is willing to go to because once ignited this wildfire will rage with unforeseen consequences.
